Engineering (Design) Intern - Summer 2023

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a  Design Engineering Intern within our Engineering team to help support our business.  Over the last 45 years, PHC has built a reputation as a world-class hydraulic cylinder manufacturer through our superior quality control and innovation. PHC is a leading supplier of hydraulic cylinders for material handling, construction, agriculture, and transportation markets.  If you join our team, your work will ensure customers across the world have high-quality products they can use to keep their businesses running

As a Design Engineering Intern you will be provided hands-on experience with the company’s engineering systems and will allow the individual to gain an understanding of the company’s operations.

So, what will you be doing as an Engineering intern while working on-site in Wilmington NC? 

• Conceives and provides practical and improved product design applications
• Emphasis is on conceiving moderately complex product designs and preparing design layouts by using a computer graphics system
• Accurately makes design calculations, write documentation and does the necessary analysis and computer simulations.
• Works closely with the Test Engineers and technicians, plant personnel and suppliers regarding product design, test and production schedule dates.
• Provides guidance to Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Marketing, Sales, Service and other departments
• Works closely with the Industrial Engineering team to support tooling and test setup design.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• Must be a full-time enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Must be able to complete a minimum of 8 weeks or a maximum of 10 weeks commitment
• Must be able to complete up to 40 hours per week
• Willingness to learn from others on the job
• Be familiar with Willmington NC area
