We, at Northfield Metal Products, a Leggett & Platt company, are searching for a Mold Maker to join our Toolroom team to help support our Work Furniture business. As a Mold Maker, you will be contributing to our Furniture Components business, we design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in the work and home furniture industry. From surface-critical bent tube assemblies and molded plywood components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, our Furniture Components business brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality products. So, what will you be doing as a Mold Maker?

Interpret and work from technical blueprints, CAD models, and design specifications to plan and execute the fabrication, modification, and repair of injection mold components.
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, and repair existing molds and tooling, performing corrective adjustments as needed

Set up, operate, and maintain machine tools—including CNC mills, grinders, lathes, and drill presses—to machine and assemble components for plastic injection molding tools
- Interpret and work from technical blueprints, CAD models, and design specifications to plan mold fabrication
- Perform regular quality checks using precision measuring instruments to ensure molds meet tolerances
- Document fabrication and maintenance activities, maintain mold inventories, and update repair histories
- Uphold workplace safety and housekeeping standards, adhering to health, safety, and operational procedures
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on-experience in mold-making, tool and die work, or mold maintenance roles.
- Post Secondary Education in Tool & Die Making, Precision Machining, CAD/Tool Design
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or certification program
Things we consider a plus:
- Practical experience in diagnosing mold defects, performing maintenance, and trouble shooting during production
- Prior work in a manufacturing setting, repairing and optimizing injections molds, die casts, plating molds, die casts, plating molds or blow molds
- Deep understanding of mold-making processes
