We at Leggett & Platt Automotive are looking for a Senior Sales Manager, North America to join our growing Automotive Team in Detroit, MI.  We are a multi-billion-dollar globally diversified company that designs and manufactures various engineered components and products. Our growing automotive business unit, which exceeds one billion dollars in sales, is comprised of four main product segments with operations on three continents.  Our customers include OEM and Tier 1 automotive companies.

In this role, you will report to the Director of Sales, NA and be responsible for multiple OEM’s & Tier 1’s in the North American Sales organization, strengthening existing customer relationships as well as cultivating new partnerships in order to grow the business.  You will have the opportunity to develop and execute your strategic plan for you and the sales manager/account manager reporting to you, contributing to the overall goals for the Automotive Group.

What you will be doing?

  • Identify business opportunities with your customers to drive the organizations sales growth for the NA market for all automotive product groups
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and establishing new key customers
  • Generate a 5-year forecast and ensure an accurate demand planning for your account
  • Ensure growth of strategic product groups, generating new business opportunities, managing your team member to ensure a timely and competitive quoting
  • Aligning account strategy to ensure profitable and competitive business awards
  • Communicate efficient, balancing commercial and engineering interest

 

We’re looking for a Senior Sales Manager with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business, or equivalent experience
  • Min 5 years experience in Automotive Industry, showing a track record proving significant program acquisitions (sales experience required)
  • Ability to promote new products with today’s customers as well as existing products with new customers, anticipating market trends, providing early input to the L&P Engineering Team on the new developments to focus on in order to get ahead of the competitors
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • International mindset, to ensure the best communication with NA customers having a global footprint and with the L&P global team
