We, at Leggett Dynamics, are searching for a Category Manager within our Engineering team.  Did you know we are the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of seating support and comfort systems for transportation manufacturers, as well as tier one and two suppliers within the automotive industry? That’s right! Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Motors, Actuators and Massage Systems. POSITION SUMMARY

  • Lead, inspire and coach the category team.
  • Lead the development of global category strategies for components and/or raw materials (with Commodity), optimizing year-over-year improvements in cost, quality, while supporting ongoing business and strategic priorities.
  • Partner with cross-functional leadership to establish mutual goals that align
    with strategic plans.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stake holder
  • Secure cross functional buy in to the Commodity strategies, developing comprehensive communication and execution plans.
  • Execute contracts reflecting the results of sourcing initiatives that adequately manage business and supply risks with appropriate legal terms and conditions.
  • Foster performance-based relationship with external suppliers;
    monitor all risks within the commodity supply base; adapt the procurement strategies for mitigation actions.
  • Track and forecast regional/global commodity markets impacting the Category. On a monthly basis, provide input to Sales for commodity changes.
  • Identify areas within the commodity of sub-optimized cost and value and implement actions to address such areas.
  • Defines & implement a Commodity Value Optimization strategy in collaboration with procurement team (Regional procurement / SD / Logistic).
  • In charge to support productivity actions of the commodity in regions related to the global material spend, to evaluate the feasibility of the productivity ideas and ensure the implementation.
  • Ensure the financial tracking of this category on monthly basis. Develops and implements strategies to attract highly skilled and engaged team members.
  • Encourage investment in skills, the evolution of capabilities and harvesting of the right competencies and talent for the function.
    EXPERIENCE  
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant engineering field (STEM)
  • Proven leadership skills. Capable to lead a global team.
  • Minimum of 10 years in a Category/commodity management position, or related experience, with global responsibilities.  Experience with resins and plastic components is a plus
  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment, Automotive experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in building cost models to understand should cost, and how to apply the knowledge to achieve results.

Travel Required:

    • Up to 40%
