At Leggett & Platt Automotive(LPA), we are looking for a Business Development Director, North America to join our growing Automotive Team in Detroit, MI.  We are a multi-billion-dollar globally diversified company that designs and manufactures various engineered components and products. Our growing automotive business unit, which exceeds one billion dollars in sales, is comprised of four main product segments with operations on three continents.  Our customers include OEM and Tier 1 automotive companies.

 

In this role, you will report to the VP of Marketing & Strategy and be responsible for growing our North American automotive customer base. You will identify unique value propositions and position LPA as the lead technology provider in the areas consistent with our future portfolio and convenience products.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Develop, grow and maintain successful customer relationships with assigned OEM Automakers within North Amercia
  • Partner with our customers to provide technical, product and business solutions to their unmet needs
  • Provide critical feedback to internal stakeholders as to technical solutions that should be considered within our product development strategies to support market growth
  • Drive and manage communications and relationships with our customers’ technical community
  • Provide industry and market insights on various market segments to support the development of the product portfolio
  • Identify, monitor, and communicate key trends across the market and industry including working knowledge of the competitive landscape
  • Develop business cases for partnerships and collaboration with our Customer outling opportunies for growth and enhancing our business efficiency

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, MBA preferred
  • Min. 10 years experience in Automotive Industry and technical customer-facing role
  • Strong commercial acumen, ability to recognize ongoing disruptive technologies
  • Ability to listen and understand the technical needs of the customer and translate into solutions
  • Strong influencing, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • International mindset
