We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Quality Engineer within our Quality team to help support our Automotive business. Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Wireless Charging, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables. As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining product quality and improving processes and procedures. You will also support the organization to meet customer expectations for products and services. This person will be a vital member of the Automotive Quality team.

What will you be doing:

  • Support Quality Manager to implement, improve and monitor the company’s management system to meet customer and LPA's requirements and expectations
  • Support Quality Manager to hold the Branch team accountable for maintaining records and reports in a concise manner, and update documents accordingly
  • When involved in product launch, champion advanced quality planning processes on developing customer programs by acting as internal and external customer liaison
  • Plan and prevent customer concerns using advanced quality planning concepts and methods (including DFMEA, PFMEA etc.) in conjunction with core team by being the quality liaison
  • Work with Manufacturing, Branch Quality, Supplier Development, Materials, and Engineering on product development and implementation
  • Create and update as necessary prototype and early production containment instructions for developing and launching programs
  • Assist Quality Manager and quality department to provide support to branch operations (such as continuous improvements and LAMPS) and service to the customer.
  • Establish and implement procedures to ensure quality of the incoming and outgoing material.
  • Ensure Compliances of quality, regulatory, and customer requirements
  • Maintain/improve customer and supplier intimacy through customer visit/contact and create effective working relations

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Good planning, interpersonal and communication skills are essential
  • More than 2 years’ experience within an ISO9000, IATF16949 automotive manufacturing environment
  • Problem solving skills are required
  • Advanced tools such as Six Sigma, Shainin, Taguchi, DFSS, etc are highly desired
  • Multi-tasking, strong advanced statistical technical skills are also highly desired ­
  • Knowledge of VDA 6.3 Process audit ­
  • Fluency in English language (written and spoken) is desirable ­
  • Knowledge of APQP, AIAG Core Tools, and GD&T ­
  • Proficient in MS Office
