The Leggett & Platt Flooring division, located in Statesville, NC is searching for a Maintenance Clerk to work as a part of our team. This person will also be responsible for making various supply purchases for the facility.
As a Maintenance Clerk, you will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and Plant Manager on daily responsibilities. This position will coordinate purchases for the branch, maintaining stock of maintenance parts including the upkeep and reviews of a critical parts list to keep the plant up and running and to minimize down time. The Maintenance Clerk will oversee organization, upkeep, and cleanliness of parts area. May be required to make parts runs to vendors for purchases and acquisitions of products.
So, what will you be doing as a Maintenance Clerk?
- Purchasing of products and equipment for the entire branch.
- Works with supervisor to keep Critical Parts List up-to-date and to maintain stock of those items as appropriate.
- Obtain quotes and authorization, order parts, request SDS- Safety Data Sheets for products and make sure these are obtained and recorded for new incoming products, and to arrange for the delivery and pick-up of parts in a timely fashion.
- Use of the “approved vendor list” shall be used when issuing POs.
- Submit any changes in vendor status and / or information to the Office Manager
- Maintain and organize parts room in a manner that maintenance staff can find and obtain items in a timely manner and eliminate a hunt for items. Eliminate any duplication of parts numbers.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance office area.
- Keep inventory and on-hand stock of janitorial / housekeeping supplies.
- Make purchases as approved by Manager’s for department supervisor requested items.
- Dispose of old parts, batteries and spent light tubes in compliance with disposal practices and oversees the proper storage of these items within the facility.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have the following:
- Must have good communication skills and be able to work with people from different departments in an office and manufacturing environment.
- Must have some basic math, computer and writing skills.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Excel & Word is a plus
- Must be detail oriented and well organized.
- Must be self-motivated and promote teamwork.
- Familiarity and basic understanding of mechanical systems and components, products and services are a plus.
- Price and product comparisons as well as vendor familiarity is required.
