As a Sr. Director of Logistics you will have the opportunity to lead and execute strategy for the supply chain function across all areas of the organization. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by providing the vision and leadership for the development and implementation of the organization’s global logistics operations. We have preference to candidates that are located in North Carolina with proximity to a major airport.
So, what will you be doing as a Sr. Director, Logistics?
- Develop and execute short and long-term strategies to drive action and achievement of business unit goals and Logistics objectives
- Establish and implement KPIs that monitor and measure performance while identifying new opportunities
- Ensures operational excellence in functional areas including the development of policies, procedures, and tools to improve all aspects of logistics management
- Oversee all performance of international and domestic vendors to ensure high quality of service to internal and external customers
- Partner with Finance and Business Unit leaders to develop sound annual budgets by leveraging industry trends, market indicators and historical costs
- Ensures that a logistics network is developed that is responsive to customer requirements and optimizes spending required to achieve those requirements.
- Develop, coordinate, and support the implementation of new and current technologies with Global Supply Chain Technology to streamline processes and reduce costs
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with key logistics partners through clearly defined expectations including the use of metrics and scorecards
- Develop a flexible and dynamic logistics network and carrier strategy that efficiently utilizes and leverages ocean, rail, truckload (including private fleet assets), intermodal, LTL, parcel, and brokerage carrier partners to deliver the highest levels of service at competitive costs
- Ensure Leggett’s private fleet is an employer-of-choice and career destination for drivers, ensuring high levels of staffing, driver job satisfaction, and retention
- Recruit, develop, and sustain a high-performance organization. Provide for continued development and growth of employees.
- Assist in the achievement of corporate ESG goals by incorporating sustainability goals in global logistics
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Management, Operations Management, or related field, or suitable combination of education and training. MBA preferred.
- 8+ years’ experience in the transportation and logistics industry, including 5+ years in a management role
- Experience managing private fleet and third-party carriers for inland freight
- Experience managing third party carriers for ocean freight
- Developed and lead dynamic logistics organizations at scale
- Analytical and data-driven leadership
- Successfully built, developed, and managed large, decentralized teams
- Advanced level skills with Microsoft Suite applications
- Excellent organization skills, proven written and verbal communication skills
