We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Sales Engineer to help support our Work Furniture business. Leggett & Platt is North America’s leading independent manufacturer of office furniture components and mechanisms. Our Work Furniture business produces task and finished components, as well as select lines of private label finished seating. From surface-critical bent tube assemblies and wire components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, Work Furniture brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality contract furniture products.
At this location, we specialize in tube cutting, bending, and welding (both robotic and hand), as well as fabrication, and light assembly—all tailored to produce top-quality furniture components. As a Sales Engineer, you will have the opportunity to support long-term relationships with existing and potential new customers, providing technical expertise, and ensuring smooth operations at our branch/site. The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative, and values the challenging work and diversity of thought.
So, what will you be doing as a Sales Engineer?
• Build and Support Relationships
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with existing and potential new customers.
• Provide Technical Product Advice
- Collaborate with customers and sales teams during the new product development phase.
- Offer guidance on cost-saving opportunities while aligning with customer needs.
• Lead and Manage Teams
- Oversee the customer service and order entry team to ensure seamless operations and exceptional service.
• Production Analysis and Costing
- Analyze production capacity and equipment utilization to create precise cost estimates.
• Customer Quotations
- Calculate and present product quotes to customers with accuracy and professionalism.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
• A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required; equivalent work experience is valued.
• 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal fabrication.
• 2+ years of supervisory or managerial experience.
• Proficient in MRP systems with knowledge of routings and BOM (Bill of Materials) applications.
• Ability to read and interpret product drawings and technical data.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
