Industrial Engineer Intern

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a non-seasonal Industrial Engineer Intern to work with our Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to help support our Work Furniture business.  In our Furniture Components business, we design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in the work and home furniture industry.  From surface-critical bent tube assemblies and molded plywood components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, our Furniture Components business brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality products.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.


As an Industrial Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work hands-on on new product developments.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by ensuring our customers are receiving high-quality products.  The team you will be working with works together like a big family and values hard work and the support of one another


So, what will you be doing as an Industrial Engineer Intern?

  • Assist in developing engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand manufacturing and service methods and activities
  • Assist in developing how to manufacture parts or products or deliver services with maximum efficiency
  • Assist in developing management control systems to make financial planning and cost analysis more efficient
  • Assist in enacting quality control procedures to resolve production problems or minimize costs
  • Assist in developing standards for design and production
  • Assist in designing control systems to coordinate activities and production planning to ensure that products meet quality standards


To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Currently enrolled in an engineering education program
  • Knowledge of developing bill of materials, work instructions, and quality standards
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of print reading


Things we consider a plus:

  • Previous manufacturing experience a plus
