Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking a talented Sourcing Engineer for their Adjustable Bed Group Supply Chain Team. The focus of this role is to develop the metric-driven cost discipline capability within the company to drive exceptional results and new behaviors in the business. The Sourcing Engineer will drive the sourcing agenda in pursuit of sustainable reductions in the total cost of goods and services procured, with simultaneous improvements in the quality, competitiveness, and service levels. This role is eligible for permanent remote work.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Sourcing Engineer has responsibility to create and drive a category management strategy that maximizes global scale for Leggett & Platt shareholders. 

 

This would include but not be limited to the following:

  • Domestic & international supply base management with a focus on optimal total cost of ownership
  • Supplier relationship management on the basis of integrity and trust
  • Driving supply base consolidation and/or introduction based on technology shifts
  • Operational excellence and complexity reduction strategies
  • Leading the development and implementation of Metal and Electronics strategies and plans to support designated Leggett & Platt-wide strategic objectives
  • Driving implementation and reporting progress against procurement goals to leadership
  • Supporting internal collaboration, knowledge sharing, compliance with best practices and established category management process
  • Actively developing and managing strategic supplier relationships while managing risk and compliance
  • Capturing insights from suppliers to support stakeholder innovation, mitigate risks for Leggett & Platt and amend category strategies to deliver additional value
  • Leveraging global scale to capture sourcing and supply chain synergies
  • Leading or supporting negotiations of strategic contracts
  • Analyst the effect that sourcing and supply decisions have on total business costs (internal and the supply chain). Ability to evaluate different supply route options e.g. from single part to build package to determine optimum cost route using appropriate evaluation tools

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ideally 3-5 years of experience in operational functions, including procurement/sourcing, preferably in a complex manufacturing-oriented organization
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field, MBA or relevant master's degree preferred
  • Expertise in commercial and contractual strategies in the Metal and Electronics supply market for components and assemblies
  • Strong track record of developing and implementing a strategic plan resulting in significant financial and operational benefits for the organization
  • Proven track record of working with multiple stakeholders (e.g. business units, functions and regions) to deliver results in a highly matrixed organization
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Willingness to travel to implement strategies and deliver process improvement globally
