We, at LPFP - Salisbury, a Leggett & Platt company, are searching for a Maintenance Supervisor to lead our Maintenance team.  We have been manufacturing carpet underlay for over 22 years and are considered a full-scale recycler. As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to maintain the functionality of equipment, oversee repairs and installations, lead and develop technicians, and maintain a safe facility.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by enhancing the company’s proficiency to optimize its production system in order to meet its long-term objectives. 

So, what will you be doing as a Maintenance Supervisor?

  • This is a hands-on role in keeping the plant up and running.
  • Direct workers engaged in planned maintenance, preventive maintenance, and emergency repair of mechanical / electrical process equipment and structures.
  • Create / Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.  Coordinates with production personnel to schedule repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Reviews manufacturer’s service manuals, plant usage schedules, and records of maintenance problems to determine optimum frequency of preventive maintenance.
  • Develops and coordinates maintenance plans for installation of new equipment.
  • Maintains maintenance data and other records, as required.
  • Participates in SafeGuard Audits and Toolbox training.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety/health regulations.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • You will need to have all of the required tools that is expected of our Maintenance personnel.
  • A working knowledge of manufacturing process equipment including shafts /bearings, chains, pumps, pneumatics, and hydraulics. 
  • Good communication skills and be able to work with people from different departments in an office and manufacturing environment.
  • To be self-motivated, organized, trustworthy, empathetic, and optimistic to create a healthy and productive work environment.
  • Foster motivation by giving subordinates autonomy to do the job, by creating a supportive environment, and by giving recognition when the job is done well.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills in order to manage the maintenance budget, supervise a team of technicians, prioritize work based on need, and manage maintenance metrics.
  • Excellent time management skills to manage multiple tasks and achieve results.
  • To be detail-oriented and well organized
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Basic math and writing skills.
  • Must be able to read blueprints & schematics.
  • Must have knowledge of “Hot Work” procedures and permits.
  • Must have Safety harness & rigging knowledge.
  • Ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Things we consider a plus:

  • A working knowledge of Programable Logic Controllers
  • Electrical Experience / Knowledge
