We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Sales Director within our Commercial & Customer (Sales) team to help support our Home Furniture business. Our Home Furniture business brings an intense focus on the customer, innovation, world‑class manufacturing capabilities, and a global footprint together to create full‑package solutions for the industry. As a Sales Director, you will have the opportunity to lead a high‑performing regional (Eastern US) sales team and shape the growth strategy for a $100M+ business. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by driving profitable sales growth, strengthening key customer relationships, and ensuring our teams are aligned to deliver exceptional customer experiences. The team you will be working with is collaborative, driven, and highly customer‑focused, and values strategic thinking, innovation, and diversity of thought.

 

So, what will you be doing as a Sales Director?

• Leading and developing a regional sales team, including strategic planning, reporting, quota setting, and sales process optimization
• Driving profitable top‑line sales growth and expanding variable margin across the region
• Managing pricing negotiations and margin performance in alignment with business strategy
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers while empowering your team to do the same
• Partnering with product engineering, category management, and operations to identify unmet customer needs and drive product innovation
• Communicating customer priorities across the business to ensure alignment, resource availability, and strong customer satisfaction
• Driving ownership of accounts receivable in partnership with internal credit teams
• Recruiting, coaching, and mentoring top sales talent with a focus on developing future leaders
• Representing the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• 5+ years of progressive sales management experience, ideally in a global B2B manufacturing environment
• Proven ability to retain and grow customer relationships while winning new business
• Strong understanding of consumer‑driven markets, preferably within the home category
• Demonstrated success building and leading competitive, high‑performing sales teams
• Experience developing and executing sales strategies that drive profitable growth
• Strong communication, presentation, data analysis, and strategic thinking skills

 

Things we consider a plus:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams such as product engineering, operations, and procurement
• Familiarity with QlikView, SuccessFactors, and corporate sales reporting tools
• Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives within a sales organization
