We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Product Manager based in the East Coast to the upper Midwest, to help support our Home Furniture business.  Our Home Furniture business brings an intense focus on the customer, innovation, world-class manufacturing capabilities, and a global footprint together to create full-package solutions for the industry.  We do not make furniture.  We make furniture more comfortable.  We need the best people on our team to support our strategy, and your work will ensure people around the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

 

The Product Manager plays a pivotal role in managing and optimizing global product categories to deliver a profitable growth strategy. The Product Manager is responsible for developing a product roadmap, directing product management aspects of new product/enhancement commercialization efforts, and leading portfolio management efforts.

So, what will you be doing as a Product Manager?

  • Assist in developing the HF BU’s product portfolio and technology roadmaps in alignment with the strategic objectives. This includes assessing market trends, competition, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities and potential product additions, enhancements, cost reductions, and discontinuations.
  • Develop business justification and gain alignment across key stakeholders on strategy, project prioritization, new products, and features by working with customers and company stakeholders. Develop business analyses, including competitive assessments, market trends, needs assessments, and market-sizing, to facilitate sound data-driven decision-making and program prioritization.
  • Support establishing repeatable qualitative and quantitative market research methods to inform overall product strategy as well as validate potential product concepts, portfolio strategies, etc.
  • Develop Voice of the Customer (VOC) insights that inform the product roadmap, new product development, and other portfolio decisions. Understand customers’ product roadmaps, identify potential opportunities and competitive threats, and incorporate this thinking into the portfolio roadmap.
  • Plan, help establish, and communicate commercial strategies that lead to the execution of successful product launches and overall portfolio sales. This includes developing go-to-market strategies, pricing proposals, launch playbooks, and product positioning in collaboration with the sales team. 
  • Identify potential risks and challenges within the product portfolio and develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Work collaboratively with peers and leadership to create a product management function that thrives on customer and market insights, embraces proactive, customer-centric thinking, and role models a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Support representation of product lines in all marketing and sales material including website, catalogs, proposal templates, training, trade show promotions, etc.
  • Provide guidance to the product development teams on customer requirements regarding regulations, sustainability priorities, required certifications, etc. 
  • 30% domestic and international

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Minimum of 8 years of business experience. 
  • Proven experience as a Product Manager, Product Marketing Manager, or Category Manager is preferred.
  • Experience in the OEM manufactured products space preferred.
  • Proven ability to engage with customers.
  • Experience successfully managing multiple complex projects.
  • Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Furniture Industry experience STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • BA in Marketing, Business, or a related field. Relevant experience will be considered in place of a degree.
