Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking an EHS Coordinator to join the Bedding Group at our facility in Ogden, UT.  In this role, we are looking for someone with high attention detail, analytical skills, and data entry experience.  You will work closely with the EHS Manager to ensure an ultimate safe environment. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for EHS compliance programs, audits, corrective actions, training, and documentation.
  • Facilitate the ongoing lean safety improvement using techniques such as Standard Work, Kaizan events, 5S, Safety Audits/Compliance Audits, etc.
  • Responsible for all incident and near miss investigations, documentation, corrective actions, and data entry & follow up.
  • Plan, organize, lead, direct and run plant safety employee engagement and empowerment activities and programs including leading the plant safety committee.
  • Develop and assist with training of audits, safety compliance and work standards.
  • Confirm effectiveness of implemented actions.
  • Be a liaison for worker’s compensation claims and external audit requests.
  • Foster and maintain an interdependent “safety is our top priority” culture
  • Develop and maintain branch unit and site-specific safety program including safe work procedures, Job Safety Analysis, Hazard Assessments & Controls, machine operator safety training, and safety reviews and audits.
  • Develop and maintain a trusting relationship with workgroup as a leader for safety and continuous improvement.
  • Direct and document employee development and training around safety program and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor processes and track corrective actions to continually improve operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3+ years of Environmental, Health, and Safety program Management or EHS degree
  • Experience in managing and auditing compliance programs and or project management
  • Training in lean production concepts, problem solving, 5S, and OSHA Safety (30-hour course) is preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, computer literacy, and a demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite Applications
  • Experience training and developing team members across an array of functional groups within a matrix organization
  • Leadership approach that gathers input, develops people through teaching/coaching and utilizes a systematic approach to achieve objectives
  • Ability to understand technical challenges and problem solve
  • Ability to successfully lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple complex project plans
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, courage, and fortitude to speak up and address issues as needed.
  • Must have organizational skills, attention to detail and multi-task.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement concepts and methodologies.
