We, at Leggett Dynamics, are searching for a Product Engineer/Developer (m/f/d) within our Engineering team to help support our Automotive business. That’s right! Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Wireless Charging, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables. As a Product Engineer/Developer (m/f/d) you will play a key role in developing the next generation of motor solutions and bringing new concepts into series production. Your work will directly influence product performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability while helping us meet customer requirements in a competitive market. You will be part of a collaborative engineering team, working across disciplines to solve technical challenges and deliver robust, high-quality products. 

 

Additionally, you'll:

  • Design and development of DC motors (brushed and brushless) and geared motors, including optimization with respect to performance, efficiency, cost, package space, and acoustics
  • Perform electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical calculations and oversee simulation activities
  • Create technical documentation, CAD models, and engineering drawings
  • Develop new products and optimize existing products with regard to performance, NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), and manufacturability
  • Build, support, and validate prototypes, as well as analyze test data and support production launch activities and continuous product improvements
  • Analyze test data and support series production launches and product improvements
  • Coordinate technical topics with customers, suppliers, and development partners
  • Provide technical guidance and support to design engineers, electronics engineers, and the test engineering department
  • Manage and coordinate technical activities within international development projects

 

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in motor or actuator development, ideally within the automotive industry
  • Strong expertise in motor design and calculations, simulation, and drive technology, as well as materials engineering and manufacturing technologies
  • Experience with CAD systems, preferably CATIA V5
  • Knowledge of materials engineering and manufacturing technologies
  • Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented approach to work
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in international teams
  • Good German and English language skills
  • Automotive industry experience is preferred
