We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Business Development Director within our Sales team to help support our Automotive business. As Business Development Director, you will lead regional business development activities, customer engagement, and growth initiatives within the assigned region. This role identifies new customers and ensures the company is registered and released as supplier, drives RFQ generation, and fosters customer intimacy to grow Sales in line with business strategies.

As Business Development Director, you will:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key OEM and Tier-1 customers within the region to drive business growth.
  • Drive the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities within the region, ensuring alignment with the company’s product portfolio and strategic objectives, by leveraging market insights and coordinating with Sales, Engineering, and Program Management to convert opportunities into RFQs and awards.
  • Drive regional collaboration efforts to enable strategic partnerships by identifying potential partners, providing market insights, and coordinating internal resources to advance growth initiatives within the region.
  • Identify addressible and accessible market per OEM and product group, ensuring quarterly updates and identifying conditions under which non-accessible market can be opened for LPA.
  • Facilitate the planning and execution of regional customer engagement initiatives, including Tech Days, in collaboration with Technical Account Management and cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with business development objectives and measurable outcomes.
  • Facilitate RFQ reception, ensuring proactive identification of opportunities, and handover to Sales for quotation, negotiation, and award booking.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to provide insights for regional growth plans.

 

To be successful you'll need 

  • Master's degree in business administration, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering is a plus
  • Min 10 years of experience in Automotive business development or Sales.
  • Min 5 years of leadership experience managing teams and regional projects
  • Strong understanding of automotive products and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent management, negotiation, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to listen and understand the technical and commercial needs of the customer as well as analyze market data and translate into solutions
  • International mindset
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
