About Our Team:
At Leggett & Platt Automotive, our NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) team plays a key role in designing, analyzing, and optimizing sound performance for comfort systems used by major automotive OEMs. We work closely with product development, testing, and manufacturing teams to ensure our components meet strict acoustic, comfort, and quality standards. Our work helps deliver quieter, smoother, and more refined driving experiences for customers around the world.
In This Role:
As part of the NVH group, you will support the development and evaluation of acoustic performance for automotive comfort systems. This team focuses on noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) analysis, sound quality optimization, and system‑level acoustic improvements.
As an Acoustic Intern (m/f/d), you will assist with the measurements, data analysis, prototype evaluations, and engineering documentation. This role is ideal for a student interested in acoustics, mechanical engineering, or automotive systems who wants hands‑on experience with real‑world NVH challenges.
So, what will you be doing as an Acoustic Intern (m/f/d)?
- NVH Testing Support – Assist with sound and vibration measurements on components and systems using industry‑standard equipment.
- Data Analysis – Analyze data, identify trends, and support engineering decisions with clear reporting.
- Prototype Evaluation – Participate in testing of new designs, materials, and configurations to assess acoustic performance.
- Documentation & Reporting – Update test reports, engineering documentation, and acoustic performance summaries.
- Benchmarking Activities – Support competitive analysis and benchmarking of acoustic characteristics.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Work with engineering, testing, and product development teams to support acoustic improvement initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement – Assist in identifying opportunities to enhance acoustic test methods, workflows, or analysis tools.
- Additional duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in acoustics, NVH, or automotive systems.
- Basic understanding of measurement techniques and engineering principles.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a technical environment.
Things we consider a plus:
- Experience with acoustic measurement tools or NVH software.
- Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, or similar analysis tools.
- Coursework in acoustics, signal processing, or vibration analysis.
- Exposure to automotive engineering or product development environments.
