HR & Safety Manager

Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking a Human Resources & Safety Manager to join the Flooring Products Group in our facility in Morris, IL.  In this role, you will work closely with management to ensure partners are safe while promoting positive employee relations.  You’ll guide and manage the overall provision of Human Resource services, policies, and programs including Safety, and other company initiatives. 


What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide leadership in all key human resources processes, including manpower planning, staffing, talent development, performance management and communications
  • Lead, support and implement all company safety programs
  • Ensure compliance and reporting requirements with all Corporate, state and federal regulations
  • Supervise and/or prepare appropriate documents regarding terminations, job placements, and other employment matters
  • Provide support for branch Affirmative Action Program
  • Maintain employee benefit information and personnel files
  • Administer/manage accident investigations, workers’ compensation cases and OSHA log
  • Coordinate safety teams and conduct safety as well as all other training
  • Coordinate employee related activities
  • Hands on experience in union environment, conflict resolution, positive employee relations, administers collective bargaining agreement and grievance handling
  • Positively contribute to continuous improvements in employee retention, training and morale


What you’ll need:

  • A minimum of 3 years Human Resources Management in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years Safety experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Occupational Safety or related field and/or 7-10 years working in an HR and/ or Safety Manager’s role.
  • Understanding of OSHA, accident investigations and State and Federal Labor Laws
  • Experience with working in a labor union environment is preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Well organized
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience writing policies and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Be comfortable working inside various computer programs on a daily basis
