Quality Assurance Manager

We are looking for a reliable and competent professional with a proven record in Problem Identification, Problem Solving and Process Improvement to lead our Branch’s Quality Department. You will be responsible for overseeing compliance to the Leggett & Platt Bedding Group’s Quality Management System as well as assessing, improving and implementing in-process quality monitoring mechanisms for 4M inputs (Machine, Material, Method, Man) that assure output per specification. Leader, self-driven, pragmatic and status-quo challenger are critical characteristics needed to be successful in this role at our fast-evolving manufacturing environment.  The ideal candidate will work closely with other branch management members with the goal of assuring high quality of our operations and services aiming to the long-term success of our business.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Monitor compliance to Quality System Management System -  LP9000-2015
  • Develop and execute a robust training program to continuously improve professional development of the branch quality team
  • Lead data driven problem solving activities utilizing the A3 or 8D methodology
  • Monitor and drive improvements to the critical to quality KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) at the branch level
  • Improve and maintain the Corrective Action system aiming to capture all types of quality performance feedback received (verbal, returns, credits issued, formal Corrective Action Requests)
  • Assure compliance to specifications AND consistency of production by monitoring process capability performance
  • Utilize visual management and standardized work to clearly communicate all requirements in the quality process
  • Drive immediate action on quality outputs showing non-conformance
  • Drive the operation towards robust in-process monitoring mechanisms
  • Communicate with external customers in relation to Corrective Actions and Customer Audits

 

Requirements

 

  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Business preferable; if not:
    • CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or CMQ/OE (Certified Manager of Quality / Operational Excellence) from the American Society of Quality will suffice as a substitute
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification preferable or willingness to attain it within two years of starting this position
  • Experience with compliance-based auditing systems preferable
  • Experience with Production Part Approval Process preferable
  • Understanding of data analysis/statistical methods used in quality performance evaluation
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and relational databases
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Great attention to detail and a result driven approach
  • Appropriate sense of urgency
