As a EHS Specialist you will have the opportunity to support the EHS Manager with ensuring safety and environmental conditions are met to protect employees within a manufacturing setting. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by developing and delivering effective policies, procedures, auditing, training, communications, and educational materials to promote increased understanding and adherence to safe operating practices throughout the workplace. The EHS Specialist ensures compliance with company standards and government regulations. This is an on-site position at our branch in London, ON.
So, what will you be doing as a EHS Specialist?
- Investigation of work incidents/accidents, workplace evaluations, acceptance testing of equipment
- Ensure, verify and improve EHS compliance with internal and external requirements including a system of regular audits
- Initiate and conduct training activities to enhance EHS awareness and ensure correct reporting in Safeguard system
- Review and approval of new equipment regarding EHS
- Initiate and contribute to EHS improvement projects
- Lead with a “Safety First” approach, maintaining a zero-accident culture
- Monitors work, accident prevention, and safe working environment across the business
- Fulfill assigned primary, secondary, and/or tertiary deputy/back-up roles as assigned and required on occasion by the business
To Be Successful In This Role, You’ll Need
- 1-3 years of proven related professional experience
- Highschool Diploma
- Work experience in a manufacturing setting
- Ability to work with others and respond to/investigate EHS incidents such as injuries, near misses, spills, releases, and complaints
- Ability to work independently after being provided with clear direction or training
- Knowledge of safe work behavior and habits
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good analytical skills needed to analyze and interpret data trends
- Proficiency in MS programs
