The Logistics Manager, Adjustable Bed Group for Leggett & Platt is accountable for developing and delivering the logistics vision and strategy to meet business goals on a global scale. He/she will translate the strategy into objectives and plans for implementation to deliver best-in-class supplier management. He/she will have direct responsibility for the global logistics spend for the Adjustable Bed Group.

The focus of this role is to develop the metric-driven cost discipline capability within the company to drive exceptional results and new behaviors in the business. The Logistics Manager will drive the sourcing agenda in pursuit of sustainable reductions in the total cost of goods and services procured, with simultaneous improvements in the quality, competitiveness, and service levels.


What you will be doing:

  • Supply base management with a focus on optimal total cost of ownership
  • Supplier relationship management on the basis of integrity and trust
  • Supporting internal collaboration, knowledge sharing, compliance with best practices and established category management process.
  • Actively developing and managing strategic supplier relationships while managing risk and compliance.
  • Capturing insights from suppliers to support stakeholder innovation, mitigate risks for Leggett & Platt and amend category strategies to deliver additional value.
  • Leveraging global scale to capture sourcing and supply chain synergies.
  • Leading or supporting negotiations of strategic contracts.
  • Understanding of the US truck market and the ocean freight market and translate market intelligence in the sourcing strategy.
  • Have a detailed understanding of the transportation industry.  Candidate should understand the principles of supply chain management and the movement of goods, door-to-door and port-to-port
  • Understanding of cost components for freight movement via multiple mode options.
  • Conduct analyses of market conditions and trends and use this information to predict commodity pricing and availability.
  • Research potential vendors and compare their products, prices, and services.
  • Able to discuss and agree to the contract terms with suppliers.   Ensure the correct terms of business references are used on orders. Should have clear understanding of Incoterms
  • Analyse the effect that sourcing, and supply decisions have on total business costs (internal and the supply chain). 
  • Ability to evaluate different supply route options e.g. from single part to build package to determine optimum cost route using appropriate evaluation tools. 
  • Provide projections to key suppliers to ensure capacity availability.
  • Participation on cross functional teams to address and resolve problems.


What we are looking for:

  • BS/BA in Logistics/Supply Chain/Transportation
  • 5-7+  years of experience in operational functions, preferably in a complex manufacturing-oriented organization.
  • Strong track record of developing and implementing a strategic plan resulting in significant financial and operational benefits for the organization.
  • Proven track record of working with multiple stakeholders (e.g. business units, functions and regions) to deliver results in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Highly analytical with advanced skills in Excel
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Willingness to travel to implement strategies and deliver process improvement globally.
  • Knowledge of Mexico operations and cross border transportation
