We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Quality Manager within our Quality team to help support our Automotive business. Did you know we are the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of seating support and comfort systems for transportation manufacturers, as well as tier one and two suppliers within the automotive industry? That’s right! Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Motors, Actuators and Massage Systems. As a Quality Manager, you will be responsible planning, coordinating and directing quality assurance activities to provide governance, maintenance and ensure compliance with the Company's Quality Management System in order to maintain defined standards. The responsibility of this role is also to fulfil the quality requirements and obligations from the customers.

 

Minimum Education & Experience
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 8 – 10+ years of quality experience, with a substantial portion (typically 5+ years) in the Automotive Manufacturing or supply chain sector.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience as Quality Manager in the Automotive Manufacturing overseeing quality teams in a multi-shift or multi-site environment. 
 
Technical Knowledge & Industry Standards
 
  • Proficient in managing Quality Management Systems (QMS) aligned with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Hands-on experience with automotive core tools (AIAG) such as FMEA, control plans, PPAP, APQP, and MSA. 
  • Familiarity with internal/external audits, including customer and third-party audits, and leading Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) initiatives. 
  • Knowledgeable in supplier quality management, covering quality agreements, supplier audits, performance monitoring, and escalation / corrective procedures. 
  • Six Sigma Black Belt (preferred)
  • GD&T
  • Expertise in RCA methodologies such as 8D, Kepner-Tregoe, and Shainin. 
  • Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, etc..
 
Functional Responsibilities
 
  • Develop and refine QMS systems to meet or exceed automotive customer requirements, ensuring certifications are maintained. 
  • Lead quality performance, including monitoring metrics, managing improvement projects, and addressing top-level KPIs. 
  • Manage quality teams, encompassing Quality Engineers, technicians, and cross-functional problem-solving teams. 
  • Oversee product launch quality, including safe-launch audits, corrective action plans, and quality checklists. 
  • Coordinate supplier quality activities, such as audits, supplier corrective actions, and performance tracking.
  • Conduct audits of processes and systems to ensure compliance with quality standards, reporting findings and ensuring timely closure of gaps.
  • Implement structured problem-solving for trending issues, customer complaints, and internal failures.
  • Provide training and mentoring in quality principles, core tools, and continuous improvement to cross-functional teams. 
  • Support customer quality requirements. 
 
Key Soft Skills
 
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal) for cross-functional alignment and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Strong project and people management capabilities, including planning, prioritization, and leading multiple quality initiatives. 
  • Customer-focused mindset, adept at handling escalations, complaints, and maintaining strong Tier 1 and OEM relations. 
 
Preferred Certifications (Value-Add)
 
  • ASQ Certifications: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE).
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt). 
  • IATF 16949 Lead Auditor.

Compensation

Salary Range from $105,000 to $130,000 based on Experience.
