Program Buyer

We at Leggett & Platt Automotive are looking for a Program Buyer to join our rapidly growing Automotive Team in the Lakeshore, Ontario.  We are a multi-billion-dollar globally diversified company that designs and manufactures various engineered components and products. Our growing automotive business unit, which exceeds one billion dollars in sales, is comprised of four main product segments with operations on three continents.  Our customers include OEM and Tier 1 automotive companies.

In this role, you will report to the Purchasing Manager and be responsible for the achievement of purchasing excellence in the supply chain. You will be identifying and implementing cost reduction initiatives and leading the purchasing activities for a variety of programs.

What you will be doing?

  • Manage the interface between the program and the suppliers
  • Support the purchasing strategy during the acquisitions phase
  • Define (with commodity support) the target price for components
  • Manage the RFQ process with recommended suppliers, to achieve the most attractive offers
  • Integrate suppliers as early as possible in the program
  • Prepare/present the sourcing committee recommendation based on supporting facts and data
  • Manage cost and timing during the product development, in conjunction with Supplier Development to meet Program(s) objectives
  • Provide the necessary support, information, and updates to the program core team
  • Negotiate with suppliers to maximize corporation’s position on price, delivery and quality
  • Support standardization of components and consolidation of supply base
  • Make sure component reviews are performed with all suppliers before kickoff

 

We’re looking for someone with:

  • University degree in Business or Engineering
  • Automotive background
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within an ISO/TS16949 manufacturing environment
  • Able to read ASM drawings/prints
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • A second language preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications
  • Availability for business travel
