The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) function is responsible for protecting people, the environment, and the workplace by promoting safe behaviors, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. EHS partners with production, engineering, and leadership teams to embed a strong safety‑first culture across operations.
This internship supports EHS initiatives in Canada and reinforces the organization’s commitment to a proactive Safe Mindset through hands‑on learning and engagement.
As an EHS Intern, you will support EHS activities across Canadian operations by assisting with safety programs, compliance efforts, and workplace initiatives that promote a strong safety culture. This role provides practical exposure to EHS principles while allowing you to contribute to meaningful projects that help keep employees safe and engaged.
This position is ideal for students interested in environmental health and safety, industrial safety, or operational risk management who want hands‑on experience in a manufacturing or operational environment.
So, what will you be doing as an EHS Intern?
- EHS Program Support – Assist with day‑to‑day EHS activities and initiatives supporting Canadian operations.
- Safety Culture & Safe Mindset – Support efforts to reinforce a strong safety mindset through engagement, communications, and awareness activities.
- Inspections & Audits – Assist with safety inspections, observations, and internal audits to help identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Incident & Action Tracking – Support documentation, tracking, and follow‑up of safety observations, near misses, and corrective actions.
- Training & Awareness – Assist with preparing safety training materials, job safety analyses, and toolbox talks.
- Regulatory & Documentation Support – Help maintain EHS records, procedures, and documentation aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Data Collection & Reporting – Collect and organize EHS data to support reporting and safety performance tracking.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Work with production, engineering, and operations teams to support safe work practices.
- Additional duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Strong interest in workplace safety and environmental responsibility.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
- Willingness to be present in a manufacturing or operational environment.
Things we consider a plus:
- Coursework or exposure to EHS, industrial safety, or risk management.
- Familiarity with basic safety concepts, inspections, or reporting tools.
- Interest in Canadian safety regulations and standards.
- Desire to pursue a long‑term career in EHS or operational safety.
