We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for an Operations Manager within our operations team to help support our bedding  business.  Did you know we have been revolutionizing the sleep industry since 1883?  That’s right!  In fact, we hold the original patent on a spiral steel coil bed spring, filed way back in 1885.  Since then, we have been an industry leader in guaranteeing you get the best sleep possible.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

As an Operations Manager you will have the opportunity to ensure that all production goals are met efficiently, safely, and within quality standards, while fostering a positive and productive work environment.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by overseeing the daily operations, production, and personnel for the drawn wire operations.  The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative, and values challenging work and diversity of thought. 

So, what will you be doing as an Operations Manager?

  • Supervise the Production Supervisors. 
  • Ensure the mill has adequate materials, staffing, and resources to make a quality product.
  • Monitor production schedules to meet customer requirements and optimize workflow.
  • Make sure employees follow work instructions.
  • Solves problems throughout the mill.
  • Assess and evaluate productivity of all manufacturing equipment.
  • Oversee the incentive calculations and work with payroll to maintain accuracy and consistency. 
  • Assist in the overall plant personnel scheduling and job bidding.
  • Participate in the hiring process for hourly production roles.
  • Lead, train, and motivate plant personnel to achieve high performance and maintain morale.
  • Assist with driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strive for continuous profit and quality impact that promotes branch and company strategies.
  • Fills in during the absence of the plant manager.
  • Attending scheduled safety meetings and following prescribed safety rules.
  • Notify Safety Director about any unsafe working conditions. 
  • Attend ISO meetings and participate in the overall quality efforts as outlined.
  • Aid in the upkeep of ISO documents that pertain to your job.
  • Member of the wire mill Steering Committee.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • 1-3 years of experience in leadership role.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience.
