We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Branch Controller within our Finance team to help support our bedding business. As a Branch Controller you will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of operational and cross-functional discussions to drive the business to greater results. So, what will you be doing as a Branch Controller?
- Collaborate across Bedding Segment to maintain consistent business processes
- Communicate issues to BU Controller
- Participate and/or lead CI activities within the Branch
- Review and verify accuracy of financial statements
- Proactively monitor financials to understand trends and abnormalities
- Provide data and explanations for Variance Summaries
- Explain changes in DIO, DPO, DSO at Branch Level
- Understand drivers of Material and Inventory Variances
- Maintain compliance with policy and procedures and assist with Internal Audit visits/requests
- Complete Sarbanes Questionnaires
- Assist with prep and coordination for internal audit and external audit visits
- Understand requirements of policy and procedures, address any issues as noticed and serve as the go to for local staff
- Track any policy variances and ensure processes are being followed
- Complete SOD Enterprise monthly
- Assist with physical inventories and/or fixed asset inventories
- Manage and complete the month-end close process
- Complete journal entries
- Approve Journal Entries made by other staff
- Complete month end reconciliations and/or approve if someone else prepares
- Review and approve month end reports for key controls (AP02002, AP02015, GL09003, etc)
- Improve and Standardize Processes
- Develop relationships with Branch personnel to provide support and information sharing on a regular basis as appropriate
- Assist with forecasting
- Provide information needed for Head Count Reports/Cost Reductions, or other analysis as needed
- Closely interact with Accounts payable, Purchasing, Payroll, Accounts receivable/credit processes
- Input and close CERs
- Fulfill requests of Corporate Departments (Accounting, Tax, Risk, Credit, etc.)
- Complete/oversee costing of inventory
- Complete annual Inventory Valuation Document
- Review & Approve Monthly Average Costing Impacts / Packets
- Review PPV and recost as needed
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Understanding of Cost Accounting and methodologies
- A self-starter with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate key data and insight to others within the Branch and Bedding organization
- Strong Excel skills and the ability to convert data to information
- High degree of professionalism and ethical standards
Things we consider a plus:
- Accounting experience in a manufacturing setting.
