Production Worker – Job Description
Classification: 
 Non-Exempt
Wage Range:  $25.75/hr starting rate is not negotiable.  After training, probation, or if selected for job position; pay increases vary from $28.33 up to $46.03/hr depending on position per Union Contract
Reports to:  Production Supervisor

 

Summary/Objective
The Production Workers operate various machines on the production floor under supervision and direction of a Trainer, Team Lead, Production Supervisor, or the Operations Manager.

 

Essential Skills

  • Performs typical machine operations to support the production floor on a variety of different machines.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safetyregulations.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required.
  • Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: milling, drilling, de-burring, molding and all bench operations and inspect.
  • Must be able to learn basic machine functions on the job to perform needed production line work.
  • Must be able to use measuring devices and math skills to ensure work station output is accurate.
  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent feedback and assistance with regards to machine set-up.
  • Must be able to meet production rates for specific warehouse functions within established standards.
  • Must have inititiave and the ability to work autonomously on production processes.
  • Reads routing and performs work as assigned by production supervisor.
  • Cuts, clips, holds, or carries product(s).
  • Notifies supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and clearly (both written and verbally)
  • Ability to consistently work scheduled shifts

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.


Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work We are currently hiring production workers for all shifts.  All training will begin on day shift and typically lasts 5 months or longer.
Day Shift: 6:00am- 2:30pm
Swing Shift: 2:30pm- 10:30pm
Night Shift: 10:30pm- 6:00am


Job Type:  Full-time 

Travel:  No travel is expected for this position.


Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • One year of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience as machine operator
  • Flexible to cross-functional On-The-Job Training environment
