We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a(n) Controls Engineer within our Kendallville, IN branch to help support our Home Furniture business.  In our Furniture Components business, we design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in the work and home furniture industry.  From surface-critical bent tube assemblies and molded plywood components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, our Furniture Components business brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality products.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.


As a(n) Controls Engineer you will have the opportunity to Develop and maintain best practices and provide support and direction for Automation, tooling, and maintenance of automated equipment and industrially controlled equipment.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by driving continuous improvement and efficiency efforts and ensuring that automation efforts meet production requirements. 


So, what will you be doing as a(n) Controls Engineer?

  • Production equipment for Automation and operator use
  • Provide engineering / control / design / programming support for production equipment
  • Work with and provide technical guidance for maintenance staff control training.
  • define and develop metrics for skilled trade activities and assist in training them to the needed level.
  • Assist as assigned by management
  • Be a safety team participant


To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • PLC, HMI, Robotics, Motor controls, pneumatics, general mechanics, and tooling knowledge desirable.
  • 4-8 years of related experience
  • Bachelor or Associates’ degree in Electrical Engineering, EET / AE, or equivalent with extensive verifiable experience.
