We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Senior EHS Specialist within our Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team to help support our Home Furniture / Work Furniture business. In our Furniture Components business, we design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in upholstered furniture, including recliner mechanisms, seating support systems, and sofa sleeper units. With a global footprint that includes international manufacturing, product development, distribution, and sales, we are strategically positioned to support upholstered furniture manufacturers around the world.

As a Senior EHS Specialist, you will have the opportunity to help shape and modernize the safety program within our facility. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by driving a cultural shift toward stronger safety practices, improved environmental performance, and enhanced sustainability. So, what will you be doing as a Senior EHS Specialist?
• Developing, planning, and coordinating all aspects of the company’s Environmental, Health, Sustainability, and Safety (EHSS) programs
• Ensuring all regulatory and internal reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant
• Monitoring site metrics and implementing programs to address trends in incident rates, DART, lost workdays, and other key KPIs
• Identifying EHS training needs and developing programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Supporting incident reporting and investigations, ensuring corrective actions are appropriate and completed promptly
• Conducting periodic EHS audits and assessments and partnering with site leadership to implement corrective actions
• Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring personnel are properly trained and equipped
• Collaborating with HR, Finance, Quality, Operations, and the Branch Management Team
• Chairing the Branch EHS Team and contributing as a member of the Branch Management Team

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 3+ years of related professional EHS experience
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to investigate and respond to EHS incidents
• Knowledge of EHS laws and regulations
• Analytical skills to interpret data and identify trends
• Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to travel between branches and maintain a valid driver’s license

Things we consider a plus:
• Professional EHS designation
• OSHA certification
• Experience with continuous improvement tools and methodologies
• Familiarity with systems such as Safeguard, HRIS system, Power BI, Microsoft Teams
