We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a(n) Plant Accountant to support our Conover, NC, and High Point, NC branches in our Home Furniture business. In our Furniture Components business, we design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in the work and home furniture industry. From surface-critical bent tube assemblies and molded plywood components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, our Furniture Components business brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality products. In this hybrid work environment, you will have the opportunity to manage the variety of accounting activities of two locations and you will have the opportunity to work with many different non-accounting areas of the branches and the organization. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by assisting the branch management team to help interpret, understand, and use financial results and forecasts to positively manage our business.

So, what will you be doing as a(n) Plant Accountant?
- Coordinate the monthly financial close. Functions include inventory valuation, inventory in-transit reports, prepare journal entries
- Prepare and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain the costing system, financial scrap reports, and branch reporting
- Monitor internal control processes to ensure they meet the Company’s requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of capital expenditure and maintain control over fixed assets
- Assist Corporate Departments (primarily Corporate Accounting) with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and data requests.
- Review/prepare annual overhead analysis
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- 2 years of related accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA/CMA or MBA a plus, but not required
- Ability to obtain advanced Microsoft Excel skills – willing to train!
- Ability to work with financial statements– willing to train!
- Ability to communicate to different levels in the organization
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and organizing tasks to meet firm deadlines
- Recent college graduates with degrees in related fields will be considered
