About Our Team:
At Leggett & Platt's L&P Guangdong Zhaoqing L&V Co. Ltd., our Engineering team plays a key role in supporting manufacturing excellence, product quality, process innovation, and operational efficiency. Working closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams, engineers help optimize manufacturing processes, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure the reliable production of high-quality products. Our team is committed to developing innovative solutions that drive performance, safety, and customer satisfaction across our operations.
In This Role:
As an Engineering Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment while supporting projects that improve production processes, product quality, and operational performance. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to analyze data, solve technical challenges, and contribute to initiatives that enhance efficiency and drive continuous improvement. This internship is ideal for someone who is curious, analytical, and eager to apply engineering principles in a real-world manufacturing setting.
So, what will you be doing as an Engineering Intern?
- Assist with engineering projects focused on improving manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and operational performance.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret production and process data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Support process optimization initiatives by evaluating workflows, equipment performance, and manufacturing methods.
- Participate in troubleshooting activities to identify root causes of production and equipment-related issues.
- Assist with developing and updating engineering documentation, work instructions, process specifications, and technical reports.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams on continuous improvement projects.
- Support product and process validation activities, including testing, inspections, and data analysis.
- Assist with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives.
- Help monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Participate in project planning, implementation, and follow-up activities to achieve engineering and operational goals.
- Observe and follow all company safety, environmental, and quality standards and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
To Be Successful in This Role, You'll Need:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Interest in manufacturing processes, engineering design, and continuous improvement.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
- Ability to work onsite at L&P Guangdong Zhaoqing L&V Co. Ltd. in Zhaoqing, China.
Things We Consider a Plus:
- Previous internship, project, or laboratory experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design tools.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, production systems, and industrial engineering concepts.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP or other manufacturing software.
- Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI, Minitab, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of quality systems, workplace safety practices, and process control principles.
