We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Supply Chain Manager within our Supply Chain team to help support our Work Furniture business. In our Furniture Components business, we design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in upholstered furniture, including recliner mechanisms, seating support systems, and sofa sleeper units. With a global footprint that includes international manufacturing, product development, distribution and sales, we are strategically positioned to support upholstered furniture manufacturers around the world.

Leggett & Platt is North America’s leading independent manufacturer of office furniture components and mechanisms. Our Work Furniture business produces task and finished components, as well as select lines of private‑label finished seating. From surface‑critical bent tube assemblies and molded plywood components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, Work Furniture brings diverse world‑class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high‑quality contract furniture products.

As a Supply Chain Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape the supply chain strategy for our Grand Rapids branch and lead a high‑impact procurement team. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by driving cost efficiency, strengthening supplier partnerships, improving inventory performance, and supporting new product development. The team you will be working with is collaborative, improvement‑focused, and committed to delivering high‑quality results through strong relationships and continuous learning.

 

So, what will you be doing as a Supply Chain Manager?

• Setting supply chain strategy for procurement, materials management, scheduling, and visual management
• Sourcing, vetting, and qualifying new suppliers
• Leading supplier negotiations and establishing strategic supply agreements
• Driving cost‑reduction initiatives and improving supplier performance
• Supporting new product launches with proactive sourcing
• Coordinating with branch leadership and corporate purchasing teams
• Building, coaching, and developing an 8–10 person procurement team
• Leading continuous improvement initiatives using KPIs and data
• Managing key supplier relationships and strengthening vendor partnerships
• Supporting strategic projects across the branch and business unit

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• 5–10 years of progressive supply chain, procurement, or vendor management experience
• Experience developing and deploying supply chain strategies
• Strong negotiation, problem‑solving, and analytical skills
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
• Experience leading and developing teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Engineering (preferred)

Things we consider a plus:

• Engineering background
• Experience in the wood or logging industry
• Supplier development and visual management experience
• Proven success driving cost‑out initiatives
• Experience vetting vendors and presenting supplier recommendations
