REPORTS TO: Warehouse Supervisor
Hours: 7AM-3:30PM Mon-Fri, with overtime as needed.
SUMMARY:
The Shipping Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating all shipping operations while serving as the primary owner of shipment accuracy, on-time delivery performance, outbound material flow, carrier coordination, and shipping process execution. This position is accountable for ensuring customer orders are processed, documented, and shipped accurately and efficiently while maintaining a safe, organized, and productive shipping operation. The Shipping Lead is expected to proactively identify and resolve issues, implement process improvements, and provide hands-on leadership by working alongside associates to support customer delivery objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Includes the following:
· Lead and coordinate all shipping operations at both Genesis West and East, ensuring customer orders are processed, staged, loaded, and shipped accurately and on time.
· Serve as the primary owner of on-time delivery performance, shipment accuracy, and outbound material flow.
· Coordinate outbound shipments and customer delivery requirements with Production, Customer Service, Planning, and Warehouse Operations to ensure customer commitments are achieved.
· Monitor and manage shipping schedules, delivery forecasts, and shipment priorities to proactively address risks and meet customer expectations.
· Maintain shipping accuracy and system integrity through accurate ERP/MRP transactions, shipping records, and inventory verification activities.
· Coordinate and oversee carrier relationships, freight scheduling, shipment tracking, and transportation activities to ensure efficient and cost-effective deliveries.
· Drive operational performance and problem resolution by identifying shipping, inventory, delivery, and customer service issues and implementing effective corrective actions.
· Develop and implement process improvements that enhance shipping efficiency, shipment accuracy, customer satisfaction, and overall operational performance.
· Provide hands-on leadership by working alongside associates, directing priorities, assigning work, and ensuring tasks are completed safely, accurately, and on time.
· Train, coach, and develop associates on shipping procedures, customer requirements, packaging standards, documentation requirements, equipment operation, and safety practices.
· Review and verify shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, labels, export documentation, and related shipping records to ensure compliance and accuracy.
· Coordinate and support export shipping activities, including carrier requirements, documentation, and compliance processes.
· Partner with the Warehouse Supervisor to establish priorities, develop standard work, implement new processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
· Provide feedback and recommendations regarding associate performance, shipping efficiency, delivery performance, and process improvements.
· Operate and oversee the safe use of powered industrial equipment, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
· Conduct equipment inspections and safety checks, ensuring equipment is maintained in safe working condition and deficiencies are promptly addressed.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by enforcing 6S standards, visual management, and safety procedures throughout shipping operations.
· Identify, investigate, and resolve shipping, inventory, quality, delivery, and customer service issues, escalating concerns when necessary.
· Participate in and lead Lean, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on shipping performance, delivery reliability, and operational effectiveness.
· Perform physical warehouse and shipping duties as required, including picking, staging, packaging, loading, and transporting materials and products weighing up to 50 lbs., with team lifting when necessary.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- HS graduate or equivalent.
- Must possess standup and sitdown forklift operation experience and/or certification and the ability to use all types of material handling equipment.
- Solid work history including related receiving, material handling, and some shipping experience.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedule, inventory reports, packing lists and check-in incoming material and sign for the same.
- Must demonstrate a good attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to exhibit good judgment related to safety, quality, cost and delivery of parts, processes and product.
- Basic Microsoft, math, computer and keyboarding skills to work within the ERP/MRP system.
