Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking Quality Engineer for our Georgetown, Kentucky plant. This is an instrumental role serving in a Tier One supplier environment with a global presence in the adjustable sleep technology market.
This position will report directly to the Unit Quality Manager. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the development, and success, of the Leggett & Platt Total Quality Management System.
Essential Job Functions:
- Primary function is to serve as customer liaison by fielding customer problems, questions, and concerns
- Coordinate activities with the proper company personnel to provide timely and accurate answers for all customers
- Assist the Unit Quality Manager in establishing and maintaining the strength and integrity of the Quality Management System
- Support customer needs by investigating customer complaints, coordinating trial activity, and reporting the needed KPIs
- Develop Control Plans, PFMEA’s, and Work Instructions that will provide clear communication within the organization
- Lead the implementation of internal and external corrective action(s)
- Responsible for supporting continuous improvement activities
- Ensure the successful launch of new products in compliance with design specifications and customer requirements
- Initiate Root Cause Investigations utilizing 5Y, 8D, SCAR, ICAR, and other required reporting methods
- Write technical reports, document, and communicate findings, while setting future direction
- Lead and facilitate cross-functional team meetings and supplier audits
- Create and maintain supporting quality documentation such as quality manuals, procedures, instruction sheets, weekly/monthly reports, etc.
- Support the development of quality systems including but not limited to Receiving Inspection, Final Inspection, In-Line Inspection, and various Process Audits
- Support the implementation of the Supplier Improvement Program
- Travel: Must be willing to conduct customer, and supplier visits within the US and abroad
- Support the Leggett & Platt Continuous Improvement Initiative
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in quality, mechanical or industrial engineering
- Five years of quality experience in a manufacturing industry
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Strong proficiency in MS Office - specifically with Excel and Word
