The Leggett Adjustable Bed Group is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their part of the Bedding Segment in Georgetown, KY.  We strive to meet the ever-changing requirements of the industry.  We manufacture in North America with facilities in the US and Mexico.  Through our design and manufacturing we enable individualized comfort in the bedroom – whether asleep or awake – to promote better health and well-being.

 

The Manufacturing Engineer will find ways to prevent waste and inefficiency in production processes. They will design efficient systems that integrate workers, information, machines, energy and materials to make adjustable bases.

 

So, what will you be doing as a Manufacturing Engineer?

  • Develop/ Maintain plant layouts
  • Assist with balancing production lines for a smooth and efficient flow
  • Maintain Process Flow / PFMEA / Work instructions for core product lines
  • Contribute to problem solving aside countermeasure activities for quality issues
  • Identify and lead process improvement activities on production lines
  • Identity and implement proper material presentation / handling processes in production areas
  • Support continuous improvement activities through data collection and project participation
  • Work closely with management to establish sustainable Lean practices that empower employees, accelerate change, and enable personal and team development
  • Formulate and recommend manufacturing processes and procedures, layout, and material handling methods
  • Provides advice, compiles data, and determines probable costs for process improvement projects
  • Performs value stream mapping - current and future state
  • Design, develop and maintain manufacturing routes to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, and space
  • Design needed assembly tool / jigs and fixtures as needed in CAD
  • Ensure the company complies with all industry standards for safety while meeting design standards and guidelines
  • Location is onsite in Georgetown and other duties may also be assigned

 

 To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering field or equivalent combined education and experience
  • 2-3 years’ experience in fast paced assembly manufacturing environment
  • Experience with AutoCAD / SolidWorks required
  • Proficiency in a Windows operating environment, including email and Microsoft Office software
  • Basic statistical knowledge and ability to apply statistics to process improvement projects
  • Proven effective leadership and program management skills, has demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise & influence without authority

 

Things we consider a plus:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
