We, at Leggett & Platt Flooring Products, are searching for a QC/Lab Technician to oversee physical property testing for our production plants. If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

 

As a QC/Lab Technician, you will have the opportunity to test the physical properties of our rebond, and prime carpet underlay products from multiple plants across the country that will ultimately ensure product quality for our customers. Your contribution will have a direct impact on the business by ensuring that our products are of the highest quality and meet industry standards.

 

So, what will you be doing as a QC/Lab Technician?

  • Coordinate receiving and testing monthly physical property testing from our six rebond carpet underlay and two densified prime carpet underlay production plants
  • Use ASTM standard physical property testing protocol for: density, thickness, tensile and elongation, compression force deflection (CFD), and compression set. Further testing includes viscosity tests along with flammability tests 
  • Work with the Quality Managers at L&P Flooring plants monthly to ensure timely delivery of physical property test results for multiple products at each plant
  • Communicate monthly physical property results with quality managers and institute corrective actions for those products that do not meet quality standards
  • Work with the Divisional Technical Manager of L&P Flooring to perform rebond binder studies, using Brookfield viscosity, on new products being evaluated from suppliers for rebond binder for L&P rebond carpet underlay plants
  • Champion safety, environmental, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform tasks assigned by supervisor

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset
  • The ability to institute ASTM standard physical property testing protocols
  • Regular communication via email with L&P managers
  • Commitment to safety and dependable attendance

 

Things We Consider a Plus:

  • Material Testing machine experience for testing physical properties of foam carpet underlay products
  • Microsoft Excel experience
