REPORTS TO:        Production Manager

 

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for planning, organizing, motivating all production employees and ensuring that subordinates perform their duties based on individual work instructions per job, production standards, and the Quality Manual.     

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  1. Must have good communication skills and be able to work with people from different departments in an office and manufacturing environment.
  2. Must be detail oriented and well organized.
  3. Must be self-motivated & able to motivate others and promote teamwork.
  4. Must be able to manage multiple tasks.
  5. Must be able to adhere to all safety and environmental policies as laid out in the safety manual
  6. Must be committed to LP-9000 and continuous improvement.
  7. Must have demonstrated knowledge of being able to cover all positions within the plant.
  8. Must provide cover for mandatory overtime hours as required by business needs.
  9. Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  10. Must be able to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment of 40 degrees Fahrenheit up to 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

 

  • Tasked with modifying the production line to address issues found during quality checks, ensuring consistent product quality throughout the manufacturing process to adhere to standards
  • Monitoring and distribution of production schedules based on order needs, inventory, general cleanup, and maintenance.
  • Responsible for communicating and maintaining the current production hours and break schedules 
  • Ensure sufficient material is available for all production runs (correct film for current production run, chemical in tanks etc.)
  • New employee onboarding paperwork 
  • Continually identify and cross train individuals with potential for advancement
  • Ensure that personnel adhere to the tasks listed in the job descriptions/work instructions for each job title.
  • Responsible for all subordinates having the knowledge and skills to operate the equipment identified in their job descriptions and work instructions safely and for their compliance with the production standards for the operation of the equipment.
  • Enforce compliance with company rules and regulations, such as
      • Tardiness, safety glasses, quality procedures, etc.
  • Maintain adequate documentation as to any non-compliance
  • In the event of a major breakdown, immediately notify the Production Manager and Maintenance.
  • Ensure that subordinates document requests for repairs on Maintenance request forms.
  • Responsible for the security of the plant location and equipment.
  • Schedule and lead weekly Toolbox talks
  • Conduct weekly production meetings.
  • Complete and verify that the shift recap reports are accurate and has details in the run time info to the daily issues and production setbacks is filled out and turned in after each shift
  • Enforce the usage of the Quality Manual.
  • Responsible for ensuring that product quality is maintained throughout the process and being monitored through QC. 
  • Understand standards and know which characteristics to look for.
  • Ensure quality of material and procedure is to standards.
  • Adhere to the Leggett & Platt Business Conduct Policy and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Continually determine opportunities for improvements within the production process.
  • Perform in other functions as directed by the Production Manager

  • Hazardous Materials Identification Training           
  • Forklift Training
  • Stormwater/Spill Prevention Cleanup Training (SPCC)
  • Lock-out and Tag-out Training
  • “Hot” work procedures/permits
  • Confined Space procedure/permits.
  • Blood Borne Pathogen Training
  • Plant Emergency Organization (PEO) training
  • Close toed shoes are required.
  • Fully cooperate during Incident Investigations to determine root cause
  • Engage in learning; take ownership and participation in any required training.

  • Must adhere to any EEOC, OSHA or governing regulations, rules and policies as required by law.
  • Must report all incidents, accidents including property damage to your supervisor immediately-time sensitive!
