Validation Manager

We at Leggett & Platt Automotive are looking for a Validation Manager to join our growing Automotive Team at our facility in Detroit, Michigan. We are a multi-billion-dollar globally diversified company that designs and manufactures various engineered components and products. Our growing automotive business unit, which exceeds one billion dollars in sales, is comprised of four main product segments with operations on three continents. Our customers include OEM and Tier 1 automotive companies.


In this role, you will report to the Chief Engineer – Electrical & Electronics and implement staff plans, equipment, and process methods for validation to meet validation needs. The manager will support the development and implementation of globally common methods and improvement s for validation services, across all product technologies. 

What you will be doing?

  • Propose and support global validation methods, equipment, processes, facilities, and services to provide best use of resources that meet requirements.
  • Propose and justify department budgets for approval
  • Execute cost effective management to achieve business operating objectives established
  • Manage and develop validation teams in line with the C2P delivery process, ensuring global directions are integrated
  • Continually seek improvements in the process, tools, and engineering methods to be integrated
  • Actively search for customer needs and jobs to be done that help define new validation needs and developments
  • Implement new technologies to generate validation cost advantages for the company
  • Drive team to be highly creative and well versed in technology trends
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to generate validation cost validation plans
  • Ensure complain and audit deliverable are met


We're looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required
  • 8-10 years direct leadership and development of technical staff, with at least 5 years in electronics product validation management
  • Global experiences in multiple functional areas of a business (Operations, Finance, Program Management)
  • Direct cross-functional team contact and product delivery to automotive customers
  • Knowledge of automotive customer launch processes (APQP, Phase gate, DFMEA, DVP&R)
  • Must be familiar with technical information received such as specifications, processes, and test methods, specifically EMC, Environmental and other electronic validation specifications to major automotive OEMs
  • Excellent communication skills, strategic thinker, strong organizational skills, able to mentor and inspire all levels of team, strong presentation skills, good problem solving
  • Some international, regional, and local travel
