We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Product Engineer - Hardware within our Engineering team to help support our Automotive business.  Did you know we are the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of seating support and comfort systems for transportation manufacturers, as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers within the automotive industry?   Our automotive products fall into four primary groups:  Seating and Lumbar support, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

 

As a Product Engineer - Hardware you will have the opportunity to support project teams by research, design, and development of electronic hardware including schematic design, design for EMC and hardware layout.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by providing global and regional engineering support.  The team you will be working with is collaborative, strategic, and innovative and values challenging work and diversity of thought.  This position will be on a Hybrid schedule.

So, what will you be doing as a Product Engineer - Hardware?

 

  • Develop Embedded Electronic product solutions to meet customer needs by creative use of core part designs and technologies by ensuring compliance to IPC and other regulatory standards, utilizing best practices such as WCCA, thermal and EMC simulations and other such standard tools.
  • Complete various engineering efforts to design, prototype and validate product design solutions in support of customer and internal core team timing requirements.
  • Maintain regular contact with team and systems integration engineering on technical issues, and complete efforts to ensure understanding of their needs by deriving hardware requirements from system requirements resulting in delivery of commitments from Leggett & Platt for a given design architecture.
  • Establish and maintain adequate records of technical information, process methods/std’s, design and program details/info, and records to support/procure reliable patent actions.
  • Ensure products are reviewed for best practice from a Design for assembly (DFA) and Design for Ergonomics (DFE) perspective to ensure design delivery to product cost targets.
  • Ensure all needed compliance and audit deliverables are met.

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Experience in Hardware Architecture and Schematic Design.
  • Experience in Electronics Stimulations.
  • Experience in Calculations for Hardware Design.
  • Experience in Schematic Design.
  • Experience in Circuit/Layout Design.
  • Experience in Troubleshooting Multimeter and Oscilloscope.
  • Experience in ASPICE.

 

Things we consider a plus:

 

  • ASPICE.
  • 2 years’ experience in an automotive embedded hardware product design role.
  • Experience with project launch cycles for automotive.
