Position Summary
The Applications Engineering Manager – APD Electronics will lead the electronics applications teams to support North America, Korea and Japan applications. This role bridges core product development and customer integration, ensuring our embedded solutions meet OEM requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
· Responsible for North American, Korean and Japanese electronics application launches and support
· Lead, develop and mentor electronics systems, software, and hardware engineers, setting clear objectives, creating development plans and succession planning
· Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
· Develop and maintain technical customer relationships with key stakeholders at OEMs and Tier 1s
· Effective management of cost, timing, and product performance through customization and adaptation of embedded systems to meet customer specific requirements
· Support customer RFQs, technical reviews, and design discussions with customers along with assign/support execution of creating engineering documentation to execute the quotation process.
· Support sales and marketing functions in tech days and promotion activities
· Guide the development and integration of embedded software and hardware for Leggett & Platt systems
· Oversee system architecture, requirements decomposition, and interface definitions
· Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies proactively
· Work closely with applications product development, validation, program management, procurement, manufacturing, and quality teams
· Support design for manufacturability/assembly (DFM/DFA), and design for testability (DFT) initiatives
· Ensure smooth handoff from development to production
· Drive root cause analysis and resolution of technical issues
Qualifications
· University degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or related field
· 5-10 years of direct leadership and development of technical staff, preferably in automotive electronics
· Excellent communicator, both in person and in writing
· Well versed in APQP and project delivery processes
· Experience working directly with automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers
· Experience with ALM tools (Codebeamer preferred)
· Experience with OEM testing specifications an asset
· Experience in ISO17025, ASPICE and Functional Safety an asset
