Corporate Development Analyst

Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Corporate Development team.  This highly visible and impactful team is responsible for helping to develop company and business unit strategy and for leading M&A activities in support of those strategies.  This role will report to the Vice President of Corporate Development and Financial Planning.  


To be successful you must be comfortable performing a wide range of responsibilities from thinking broadly to executing detailed tasks and have a track record that demonstrates sound judgement, strong personal initiative and the determination required to thrive in a challenging role that involves complex situations and frequent ambiguity.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist business leaders with strategy and M&A pipeline development by researching markets and companies.
  • Participate in all aspects of M&A transactions including strategic analysis, valuation, financial and operational due diligence, legal documentation, and integration planning.
  • Evaluate materials received from M&A targets and other sources.
  • Perform financial analysis and develop robust models to evaluate projections and valuations of targets.
  • Assist M&A managers/directors to coordinate cross functional teams of internal resources and external advisors.
  • Support negotiations and transaction documentation.
  • Prepare strategy and acquisition related presentations for business leaders and the executive leadership team.


What you’ll need:

  • Excellent understanding of finance and accounting combined with experience analyzing financial statements and building financial models
  • Interpersonal skills to build relationships across all levels of the organization and the professional presence to represent the company in interactions with external parties
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to develop compelling arguments and confidently and concisely present analysis and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and competing priorities


What we’re looking for:

  • 2-5 years experience, preferably in corporate development, investment banking, or management consulting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field
  • MBA or CFA preferred


Location:  The location for this position is flexible.  Most of our Corporate Development team is based out of Leggett & Platt’s corporate office in Carthage, MO, however, the position could also work remotely or out of another Leggett & Platt location.
