As a Sales & Technical Service Representative, you will have the opportunity to combine technical expertise, customer relationship management, and sales support while serving as the primary field resource for customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by driving customer satisfaction, supporting territory sales growth, providing valuable product feedback, and ensuring customers receive industry-leading service and support. So, what will you be doing as a Sales & Technical Service Representative?
- Manage the Mid-Atlantic service territory, primarily covering North Carolina, while supporting customers in South Carolina and Virginia. Position ideally based out of Conover/High Point, NC.
- Plan and prioritize customer visits, travel schedules, and service activities to maximize territory coverage and business impact.
- Build strong working relationships with customer personnel at all levels, from production employees to plant leadership and general managers.
- Coordinate closely with the Vertex Sales Office to support customer needs and sales growth opportunities.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair Vertex tools and equipment in the field.
- Train customers and other personnel on the operation, maintenance, and servicing of Vertex tools and equipment.
- Determine parts requirements and provide recommendations for repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate customer records, service documentation, and call reports.
- Provide Voice of the Customer insights, product feedback, and market intelligence to Vertex management.
- Deliver exceptional service that exceeds customer expectations and strengthens long-term customer partnerships.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing tools, machinery, or industrial equipment.
- Experience communicating directly with customers and supporting field service or sales activities.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to independently manage a large geographic territory and prioritize competing responsibilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to train customers and others on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Experience maintaining accurate records, service reports, and customer documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all organizational levels.
- A self-motivated, outgoing, and customer-focused approach to work.

Things we consider a plus:
- Previous experience in outside service, field service, or territory management.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, furniture, industrial, or machinery-related industries.
- Familiarity with CRM, sales reporting, or business intelligence tools such as QlikView.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications and customer service reporting systems.
- Technical training or certifications related to mechanical, industrial, or equipment maintenance.
- Experience collaborating closely with sales teams to grow customer relationships and support revenue growth.
