Job Summary: The Maintenance / Welder required to repair, maintain, build, overhaul and troubleshoot problems with various types of machines and equipment.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Education & Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age to perform this job. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review maintenance work orders and P.M.’s and projects assigned daily to ensure tasks are being completed in a timely manner.
  • Analyze any reoccurring problems with machinery & equipment and come up with permanent repair ideas and fixes and cost reduction.
  • Perform preventative & routine maintenance as scheduled in a timely manner.
  • The ability to look up repair parts via prints and/or spreadsheets, catalogs or online, or discuss with outside vendors and get quotes to fill out requisition forms to be approved for parts to be ordered.
  • Provide your own tools.
  • Perform work on mechanical drive systems such as belts, pulleys, speed reducers, roller chains, sprockets, shafts, and bearings mostly used on conveyor systems and tables.
  • Must have strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical components and systems.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot in electrical systems and components: 480-volts 3 phase, 220-volt single phase, 110 single phase, 24-volt AC and DC control voltage used on contactor, drives, photo eyes, proximity switches, coils, limit switches, safety switches, fuses and breakers; Ability to replace failed electrical components as needed.
  • Hydraulic troubleshooting skills: must be able to identify failed hydraulic components and repair as needed on hydraulic systems control valves, pumps, cylinders and pressure transducers.
  • Weld pipe ranging in size from 3/4” up to 8”
  • Weld pipe runs on critical components including but not limited to chemical streams, compressed air lines, and fabricated equipment.
  • Must be able to position the weld set up, fit the piping, and perform welds independently.
  • Perform load rigging, torch cutting, and leveling with the use of measurement tools.
  • Must be able to complete open root welding (no insert).
  • Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs and maintains piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water fixtures and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and production and processing systems.
  • Read blueprints and drawings to plan layout and install piping systems.
  • Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to job specifications.
  • Inspects and plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers.

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Or the combination of vocational/technical training in electrical systems and practical experience.

 

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of mechanical maintenance and welding experience required preferably in an industrial setting

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to climb 40-foot extension ladders and work on all types of ladders.
  • Ability to visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Ability to operate scissor lifts, fork trucks, boom lifts, lulls and other industrial equipment safely.
  • Ability to see and hear industrial equipment moving around the job site.
  • Capable of working alone up to 12 hours carrying out assigned tasks with little to no supervision.
  • Should be familiar with rigging, torch cutting, grinder & wire wheel operation, leveling, and use of measurement tools.
  • Need to be familiar with the use of a pipe threading machine.
  • Attendance Punctuality – Is consistently at work and on time.

  • Quantity Meets productivity stands; Completes work in a timely manner; Strives to increase productivity.

  • Able to work accurately from verbal and written instructions.
