We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a(n) Central Region Sales Representative within our Home Furniture Regional Sales team to help support our Furniture Components business.  In our Furniture Components business, we design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort and style in the home and contract/ hospitality furniture industries.  From a wide range of seating components, motion hardware for recliners, and sleeper mechanisms our Furniture Components business brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality products.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

 

As a(n) Central Region Sales Representative, you will have the opportunity to develop profitable new business and grow sales in existing assigned accounts.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by assisting in the development of new products and being an effective liaison with customers, development teams, and Leggett R&D engineers. 

 

So, what will you be doing as a(n) Central Region Sales Representative?

  • Account/ Territory Management
  • Liaison between customer and plants
  • Relationship building with customer base
  • Bring new products to market
  • Own AR collections with assistance from corporate credit departments
  • Communicating and coordinating key customer needs & goals that align with BU strategy
  • Participate in various tradeshows, industry functions, and training opportunities
  • Meet and exceed sales goals and grow market share
  • Partner with the sales/ manufacturing/ customer service teams to respond to customer needs, monitor accounts, and build strong customer relations
  • Develop professional and personal relationships with customers and the principals of those companies
  • Provide technical assistance to customers for our applied products and assist in troubleshooting or develop developing their products using our components.
  • Market and roll-out new products to customers
  • Assist in the resolution of account problems including pricing, credit issues, etc.
  • Manage and control all selling expenses in your area
  • Adhere to all company, government and customer policies
  • Project a positive and professional image for the company and division. Conduct yourself at all times with honesty, integrity, and with the best interest of the company, and customer in mind.
  • Minimal overnight travel, daily regional travel required

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Located in Central to Eastern Tennessee where the bulk of the territory falls (Ohio and Indiana falls within this territory as well)
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control practices
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity to optimally organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and drive to results
  • Excellent customer service
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Strategic thinking

 

Things we consider a plus:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of outside sales experience
  • Good knowledge of furniture industry strongly preferred
  • Ability to create and implement sales strategy for customers and products
  • Ability to identify and implement sales KPIs and show patterns of execution
