As a Voice Engineer II you will have the opportunity to support the design, implementation, migration, and operation of enterprise voice and unified communications solutions. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by serving as a key technical contributor for voice transformation initiatives, including migrations from legacy PBX, TDM, and analog environments to Microsoft Teams Voice and centralized SIP-based communications platforms.
The ideal candidate has experience with Microsoft Teams Voice, Direct Routing, AudioCodes SBCs and gateways, Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Avaya, Mitel, SIP technologies, and enterprise voice troubleshooting. This individual will develop technical documentation, create call flow diagrams, assist with solution design, support migration activities, and help maintain reliable voice services across the organization.
So, what will you be doing as a Voice Engineer II?
- Support migrations from legacy PBX, TDM, PRI, and analog telephony systems to Microsoft Teams Voice and centralized SIP-based services.
- Assist with implementing approved voice designs, migration plans, technology upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
- Develop and maintain high-level designs, low-level designs, call flow diagrams, network diagrams, migration runbooks, and operational documentation.
- Configure and support Microsoft Teams Phone, including Direct Routing, dial plans, voice routing policies, Auto Attendants, Call Queues, Resource Accounts, and emergency calling policies.
- Administer and maintain AudioCodes SBCs and gateways supporting Direct Routing, SIP trunking, and enterprise voice services.
- Support AudioCodes MP-124 and other gateway solutions used to integrate analog and legacy telephony services into SIP-based environments.
- Assist with migrations and support of analog devices including paging systems, overhead speakers, elevator phones, emergency phones, door phones, alarm dialers, and fax services.
- Configure and support Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), including SIP trunks, route patterns, translation patterns, calling search spaces, partitions, device pools, and dial plans.
- Support interoperability and coexistence between Microsoft Teams, Cisco UC platforms, AudioCodes infrastructure, and telecommunications carriers.
- Assist with E911 and Dynamic Emergency Calling deployments, testing, location management, and ongoing support.
- Troubleshoot SIP, RTP, SRTP, TLS, voice routing, call quality, codec negotiation, and interoperability issues across voice platforms.
- Analyze SIP traces, AudioCodes logs, CUCM traces, Teams Call Analytics, CQD reports, and packet captures to identify and resolve service issues.
- Support SIP trunk deployments, carrier integrations, telephone number porting activities, and transitions from traditional telephony services to SIP architecture.
- Participate in system upgrades, maintenance windows, firmware updates, testing activities, disaster recovery exercises, and production cutovers.
- Provide Tier I and Tier II operational support and collaborate with network, security, infrastructure, and carrier teams to maintain highly available voice services.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of enterprise voice engineering experience.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Teams Voice and Direct Routing.
- Experience administering Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).
- Experience supporting AudioCodes SBCs and media gateways.
- Experience with voice migration projects involving PBX, TDM, PRI, analog, or SIP-based technologies.
- Strong understanding of:

- Experience creating technical documentation, call flow diagrams, and implementation procedures.
Things we consider a plus:
- Microsoft Teams Phone or Teams Voice certifications.
- Experience with AudioCodes Mediant SBCs, MP-124 gateways, and One Voice Operations Center (OVOC).
- Experience with analog-to-SIP and TDM-to-SIP migration projects.
- Knowledge of E911 and Dynamic Emergency Calling.
- Experience with carrier SIP trunk integrations and Direct Routing deployments.
- PowerShell scripting experience.
- Experience using Visio or similar diagramming tools.
- Knowledge of MPLS, SD-WAN, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and firewall concepts.
