About Our Team:

At Leggett & Platt, our Corporate Tax Department plays a critical role in ensuring compliance across global operations while supporting tax strategies that enable sustainable growth. The team manages a broad range of tax responsibilities—including sales and use tax, property tax, and international filings—for a multinational manufacturing organization.

 

We partner closely with Finance, Legal, and Operations to uphold accuracy, transparency, and fiscal responsibility across the enterprise.

 

About the Role:

As a Tax Intern, you will gain hands‑on exposure to full‑cycle corporate tax processes within a global organization. From preparing returns and processing payments to conducting tax research and supporting audits, this role goes beyond clerical work and offers meaningful, real‑world experience.

 

This internship is designed for students who want to apply classroom knowledge, contribute to impactful projects, and build a strong foundation in corporate tax operations.

 

So, what will you be doing as a Tax Intern?

  • Assist with corporate income tax compliance, including tax returns, extensions, estimated tax payments, and income tax accounting
  • Conduct tax research and support special projects related to tax matters
  • Help identify, research, and assess various tax issues, providing insights to senior team members
  • Assist with responses to taxing authority inquiries and audit documentation
  • Maintain organized tax records and support process improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with team members on cross‑functional projects and reporting
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Completion of at least one college‑level accounting course
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred graduation date: May 2027 or later)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to take initiative and learn in a fast‑paced environment

 

Things we consider a plus:

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Prior coursework or experience in tax, accounting, or finance
  • Interest in corporate tax strategy or regulatory compliance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Curiosity about how tax impacts business decisions and operations
