POSITION:               SHAFT LINE OPERATOR

 

REPORTS TO:         MANUFACTURING MANAGER

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must have cooperative attitude, necessary to work effectively with others
  • Must have acceptable attendance
  • Must be able to move quickly from machine to machine and make necessary adjustments
  • Must be able to fill out all necessary paperwork accurately
  • Must be able to read and understand prints/drawings
  • Must have the ability to operate a fork truck and motorized crane
  • Must be able to accurately read all necessary inspection equipment
  • Must be able to use and understand basic inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, etc)
  • Commitment to Quality Management Systems and Continuous Improvement
  • Commitment to L&P Safety and Environmental initiatives

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

 

The primary duties of the employee are (but are not limited to) the following:

 

  • Maintain production on all machinery within the automated cell in order to meet department performance and quality objectives
  • Perform basic tool changeovers, tool offsets, and machine maintenance
  • Chamfer and load raw material onto the bar feeders
  • Rework non-conforming product as necessary
  • Assist in the packaging and handling of finished product and raw materials
  • Assist with all of the Material Handler duties when possible
  • Report to the supervisor any problems that occur within the automated cell
  • Will discontinue production and notify supervisor as needed if process does not fall within specifications or is suspected to be nonconforming
  • Identify and/or record any problems relating to the product, process and to the management system
  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity or costly downtime related to the product, process, or the system
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Verify the implementation of solutions
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and safe
  • Report to the supervisor, management team members, or Administrative

Manager any Continuous Improvements recommendations

  • Follow all written procedures, work instructions and quality plans
  • Conform to all Quality/Safety requirements and procedures
  • Participate in the Continuous Improvement Process
  • Perform  all other duties as requested or deemed appropriate

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

You must be able to perform these duties within 30 days

 

  • Operate machinery efficiently
  • Perform machine tool offsets
  • Report any serious problems to the supervisor
  • Accurately use and understand basic inspection tools
  • Perform machine maintenance
  • Understand work instructions & quality plans for process

 

You must be able to perform these duties within 60 DAYS

 

  • Able to perform all 30 day requirements
  • Must be able to make tooling changes
  • Inspect finished product for quality defects
  • Know and understand all nonconformance and specifications

 

You must be able to perform these duties within 90 DAYS

 

  • Understand all processes involved with the position
