We, at Leggett & Platt Incorporated, are searching for a Quality Technician within our Quality team to help support our Automotive business. As a Quality Technician you will be responsible to ensure that components used in manufacturing processes and manufactured/assembled products meet or exceed internal LPA and customer quality requirements through dimensional and physical testing or visual inspection. When applicable, provide dimensional layout service to ensure component and assembly conformance to engineering and quality standards, and gauge maintenance and calibration verification.
So, what will you be doing as a Quality Technician?
- Operation and monitoring of assigned quality assurance and testing of components from suppliers and/or manufactured/assembled products from LPA processes at different production steps using correct assigned equipment and prescribed techniques. Perform sort and/or rework activities as required per work instructions. Data collection, reporting, and creation of quality reports if and as necessary according to direction from Quality Manager and/or Quality Engineering.
- When applicable, set up and operate measurement machines from simple manual devices such as calipers and pin gages up to more complex systems such as CMM and 2D/3D imaging. Summarize and submit reports to the requester.
- When applicable, maintains and verifies measurement and test equipment, set-up and verify gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies, develop, and implement proper calibration and usage methods. Establish and maintain gauge software systems and keep all equipment calibrated and ready to use.
- Support Quality Engineering in problem solving.
- Support on Compliances of quality, regulatory, and customer requirements, such as IATF 16949, ISO/IEC 17025, etc.
- Comply with 6S standards and procedures.
- Keep knowledge up to date on product production processes and internal/customer requirements pertaining supplied and shipped products Fulfill responsibilities in Health & Safety as defined by legislation and the company H&S program. Support a safety-first approach maintaining a zero-accident culture. Ensures and monitors work, accident prevention and safe working environment across the business.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- At least one year experience within manufacturing environment.
- Good communication skills are essential (read, writing, and listening).
- Knowledge of problem-solving skills.
- Multi-tasking, strong math and metrology technical skills are also highly desired.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Fluency in English language (written and spoken).
- When applicable, proficient in blueprint reading and good GD&T knowledge.
- When applicable, ability to operate systems like CMM, 2D and 3D imaging devices.
