We at Leggett & Platt Automotive are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our rapidly growing Automotive Team in Carthage, MO. In this role, you will support the management of the Branch Quality Management System whilst maintaining a Safety-First approach in all activities. You will support branch operations and lead in problem solving to meet customer requirements. As part of the Quality Team you will have close interactions with all areas to establish efficient processes to meet our customers’ needs.

What you will be doing?

  • Implement, improve, and monitor the company’s quality management system to meet customer and LPA’s requirements and expectations.
  • Lead, develop, and coach branch staff to play the roles of police, doctor, and coach and facilitate quality branch activities.
  • Review and develop action plans to improve Branch KPI (Cost of poor quality, internal PPM, customer PPM, PPAP submission on time).
  • Lead problem solving (8D report, etc.), implement corrective actions in a branch, and document it in knowledge database.
  • Provide support to branch operations (such as continuous improvement and LAMPS) and service to the customer.
  • Establish and implement procedures to ensure quality of the incoming and outgoing material.
  • Develop methods to check and ensure downstream quality in new products (APQP and safe launch) and ensure quality of existing products.
  • Ensure compliance of quality, regulatory, and customer requirements, such as ISO 14001, IATF 16949, and ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Maintain records and reports in a concise manner, and update documents accordingly.
  • Maintain/improve customer and supplier intimacy through customer visit/contact and create effective working relations.
  • Fulfill responsibilities in Health & Safety as defined by legislation and the company H&S program.
  • Lead a Safety-First approach maintaining a zero-accident culture.
  • Ensure and monitor work, accident prevention, and safe working environment across the business.
     

We are looking for someone with:

  • 4+ years experience in a quality environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, emphasis in quality is a plus.
  • Ability to run a root-cause analysis and solve problems
  • Ability to manage time and make changes as necessary to meet customer needs
  • Working knowledge of product and manufacturing quality processes with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Adequate experience in the use of common IT-solutions (MS Office, HFM, etc.)
  • Hands-on mentality and excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Social and intercultural competence as well as good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Commitment to 100% safety, quality and continuous improvement
  • Ability to interact positively with employees of all levels across the organization
